Our services
E&S Due Diligence for project finance
Our extensive experience and professionalism in environmental and social consulting enable us to deliver high-standard Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) services for project financing. These services are primarily aligned with the rigorous Performance Standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, as well as the Equator Principles.
In most cases, these services are required by lending institutions to ensure the environmental and social viability of projects. They are also occasionally requested by project developers or owners seeking to ensure responsible and sustainable project development.
Following the completion of the due diligence process, we continue to support our clients through construction and operational monitoring services. This approach ensures compliance with the established Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) and provides ongoing oversight to effectively mitigate potential environmental and social impacts.
Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring and Assessment
Our studies incorporate specialized methodologies such as electrofishing, macroinvertebrate sampling, habitat assessments, and the analysis of metal concentrations in fish tissues and other aquatic species. To ensure sound environmental management, we recommend establishing a pre-construction baseline, providing critical reference data for subsequent monitoring phases.
We also advise conducting assessments at least twice annually—during the dry and wet seasons—to capture seasonal variability and obtain a comprehensive understanding of ecosystem conditions.
At CTA, we recognize that each project is unique; therefore, we carefully evaluate specific project requirements to design tailored monitoring programs. In addition to aquatic monitoring, we provide terrestrial monitoring services for flora and fauna, ensuring an integrated and holistic approach to environmental assessment.
Environmental and Social Baseline Studies
Environmental and social baseline studies are essential to establish a robust reference point for project evaluation. To ensure adequate representativeness, it is recommended that these studies be conducted over a minimum period of one year. This timeframe not only enhances the accuracy of results but also provides a strong technical foundation for future decision-making and compliance.
Our baseline assessments include a rigorous analysis of key environmental components, including water, air, soil, and biodiversity. In parallel, we evaluate relevant social aspects such as traffic, cultural heritage (archaeology), landscape, employment, public services, and transportation, among others.
These baseline studies, together with impact assessments, form an integral part of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) submitted for approval to local environmental authorities and, where applicable, to international financing institutions. It is also important to note that baseline studies may be reviewed and/or updated throughout the project lifecycle due to expansions, modifications, regulatory requirements, or specific agency requests.
Environmental and social baseline studies are critical for understanding the initial conditions of both the environment and surrounding communities, enabling informed, responsible, and sustainable decision-making in project development and management..
Auditing and Implementation of Sustainability Standards (IRMA, Cyanide Code, TSM)
The principal international frameworks we support include the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA), the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC), and Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM). In addition, we work with other recognized standards such as the Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMP), and we conduct audits to assess client compliance with their internal management systems.
Our experience and technical expertise enable us to deliver comprehensive, high-quality advisory services, ensuring that mining operations meet the highest environmental and social performance standards. We are committed to promoting sustainable practices within the mining sector, safeguarding environmental integrity and supporting the well-being of surrounding communities.
Maintenance and Rental of Environmental Monitoring Equipment
As part of our integrated service approach, we offer equipment rental solutions for temporary projects, providing clients with access to high-performance technology without the need for capital investment in assets. Additionally, we deliver maintenance services for client-owned equipment, both in the field and at our specialized electronics workshop.
Our highly trained personnel operate under international standards, ensuring optimal equipment performance and data integrity. At CTA, we are committed to technical excellence, supporting our clients in obtaining precise measurements and ensuring the continuity and quality of their environmental operations.
